South London teen. Quite a nice person.

I'll post stuff about myself, about life and growing up. Hope you enjoy, because I certainly enjoy making it.

This woman is drinking a cup of coffee. IS THIS FEMINIST?
That coffee may be fair trade and organically grown, but this woman is still avoiding the struggle against patriarchy by drowning her sorrows with a chemical dependency. PROBLEMATIC.

Okay so I come across this photo alongside the description, and it really angers me. Firstly because it suggests that the only reason women/feminists drink coffee are that they have sorrows to drown ‘with a chemical dependency’. But she is smiling?
Secondly, should we not be more concerned about the blatant photoshopping of her face, that perhaps this image has been used through the internet/in magazines or whatever, misinterpreting what skin is meant to look like or how bright teeth are meant to be, effectively turning women into cartoon characters.
And finally I disagree with how everything rotates around society’s ideas of what feminists/women are meant to be and how they are meant to act. Frankly I don’t care whether or not they drink coffee, I care about what they stand for, what they agree and disagree with and whether or not and how they act upon those things. Moreover, I disagree how we have expectations of feminists/women because we believe they act as one, as a unit. No, everyone is different and that is where conflict lies, is pressuming that we understand how everyone will act in the way we expect.

Giveaway!

So, I’ve never done one of these but I’d like to give it a shot, because hey, people love free stuff and I like to give people free shirts.

How to Enter/Rules:

  • Just reblog! There is a max of 3 reblogs per person. Likes will not count but I won’t penalize you or anything for it.
  • I will need a shipping address to send this to, so make sure your ask box is enabled.
  • I will order the shirt from RedBubble and have it shipped directly to the shipping address that you provide me with. There’s a very long list of countries that RedBubble ships to, so if you’re not in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, or New Zealand don’t sweat it — you’re probably covered.

The Prize:

  • I will pick one winner by a random generator.
  • You, the winner, will be able to select any one of my shirt designs in any color and size you want!
  • This offer includes all of the shirts available, except for hoodies. Chances are, you’re not going to want a hoodie anyways. (In the future I’ll be more likely to include hoodies, though!)
  • I will be ending the giveaway at 8:00 PM EST on April 30th. (Or, in terms that people like me, who don’t really understand the EST and UTC and other things like that — I’ll end it when it is 8 PM in Washington DC.)
  • Good luck!
